Argon 18

Are you looking to buy an Argon 18 road bike? And do you want to find out what makes an Argon 18 road bike truly unique? Argon 18 bikes are especially ridden by the World Tour team, Astana, as these bikes originally come from there. See our full range on the page >>

Argon 18 is a Canadian bicycle manufacturer that began producing bikes in 1989. Their name comes from the periodic table, where Argon is element number eighteen. The owner, Gervais Rioux, has also been a cyclist himself and has participated in several Olympic championships. He saw the potential in bikes where traditional design and modern technology come together. Their philosophy is thus based on combining past and present in a solid, well-thought-out, and thoroughly tested product.

Argon 18 controls the entire production process

Argon 18 manufactures bikes exclusively on their own terms. They control every step of testing, design, and the final product. They have created their very own testing instruments in Canada, allowing them to find the perfect balance in the bike. The bike needs to be balanced - this is especially important for Argon 18 - if the frame, for example, is too stiff, it affects the overall cycling experience. Thus, the goal is to produce an Argon 18 bike that can perform at the highest level while meeting strict testing requirements.

Models of Argon 18 road bikes

We have many different Argon 18 road bikes from Astana's 2019 season on the World Tour. Here's a list of the bikes:

Argon 18 Gallium Pro
Argon 18 Nitrogen Pro
Argon 18 E118

Argon 18 Gallium Pro

Gallium was Argon 18's first full carbon road bike and is proof of a thorough design process with special attention to every detail. The Gallium Pro frame weighs approximately 814 g (Pro-disc model). They achieved this by optimizing the overall carbon structure and fibers.

The bike's performance is measured just as much in the frame's geometry as in grams. Gallium is designed for racing and created to be stable at high speeds without losing flexibility when taking sharp turns. Argon 18's 3D system also allows the head tube to be adjusted at three levels.

Argon 18 Nitrogen Pro

Argon 18's geometry from Gallium bikes and aerodynamic profiling from their time trial bikes have come together to create their Nitrogen Pro. So, Argon 18 Nitrogen cuts through the air while remaining easy to control on climbs and descents.

Argon 18 E-118

E-118 is designed for cycling enthusiasts who want to sit in the ultimate riding position and cut through the air as efficiently as possible. Their Oneness technology has been updated so that both the arm position and grip position are lower around the handlebars. This gives you a more aggressive riding position and especially improves the fit for smaller riders. This setup was used by the Astana team at the Vuelta a España in 2019, where they also won the team time trial (T.T.T.).

Electronic gear groups in the bikes

All the Argon 18 bikes you see in our range are Shimano Dura-Ace Di2. This includes both R9150, 11-speed, Di2, and R9170, 11-speed Di2, with disc brakes. Dura Ace Di2 is exclusively an electronic gear group. This means that you shift gears electronically. Be especially aware that the motor used for shifting gears needs to be charged. So, you cannot shift gears if the motor is out of power.

Cranksets in Argon 18

In these Argon 18 bikes, the crankset is an FSA crankset. FSA (Full Speed Ahead) is a passionate manufacturer of modern and efficient cranksets. The crankset is ready to be integrated with the other electronic features on the bike.
